Executive Chef: Making the most of your dollar

Feeding a family of four adults can be costly,
but your executive chef hasn't turned to dumpster diving quit yet.
I did, however, find a cheaper way to buy fruits and vegetables: The Flea Market

With two of our family heavily into juicing, those fruits and veggies can really add up,
but the local flea market offers an alternative for those high prices. With it's 50 cents a pound tomatoes and 20 cents a pound oranges (25 cents for blood oranges), this is a good way to stretch that food budget. The two pineapples were 2.00 each. The bananas were a little splurge as were the pomellos (3 for two dollars). The cauliflower was a real bargain at one dollar. Can you guess the total of the total on the table (scroll down for the answer)?

Ok, they are not organic and on the whole, the take is pretty basic, but we just paid our first double house mortgage (Meadowlark and Esther houses), so we are looking to economize wherever we can!
One thing, though, about flea markets:

Don't look the water buffalo in the eyes, could start a stampede!

(answer: 23 dollars)

Hope your day is going better than this water buffalo's day!

Love, love, love,
Kellyann

Good for you for finding such bounty at such a bargain price. I often think fresh and local are much more important than organic. And you live in the Garden of Eden when it comes to fruits and vegetables.
