Some Reading at Esther Cottage

From Abbington Press: Charlotte Figg Takes over Paradise

While this book seems somewhat simplistic, it caught hold of my imagination and I found it to be a galloping read throughout.

After the death of her Fuller Brush Salesman husband, Charlotte Figg decides on a whim to sell her house and move into a trailer in a trailer park called Paradise. The people that she meets are unusual, but end up creating a family where Charlotte is empowered to start a woman's softball team. Along the way, she realizes that she now has the freedom to become who she wants to be, rather than the woman her husband or mother wanted.

Carried by her concern for the wife of the park's superintendent, Charlotte attempts to change the abusive man. Instead, she finds herself bullied and frustrated. It is through the actions of others that she realizes that she must accept what she cannot change. Then the birth of a baby on second base, a violent storm and a fire change everything.

Yes, there are acts of nature. Yes, there are warm and kind people. This is a book that I would reccomend to anyone that is looking for a good read.
