Painting on the patio: 9/2/2011

I spent some good time in my vacation painting and I am determined to continue to draw daily and paint at least once a week.

Here are two studies that I painted of "home":

The first, a composition of lemonade glass, ink bottle, sketchbook, and pencil:



The second is the fence and cedars that line our patio:



I found this technique of using the sharpie-drawn studies to block out some of the shapes and values before attempting a more delicate rendering.
